Delete your account
A Scoundrel’s Tale is a single-player game and does not need an account. You only have one if you chose “Sign in with Apple” or “Sign in with Google” in the game’s Options, to use cloud saves or the leaderboard.
You can delete that account, and everything stored against it, at any time. There are two ways.
In the game
This is the fastest route: the deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
- Open A Scoundrel’s Tale and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to Options — the fourth tab in the bottom bar.
- Scroll down to “Cloud save”.
- Tap “Delete account”, then confirm in the prompt.
By email
If you can no longer open the game — because you removed the app, for instance — write to hello@scoundreltale.com from the email address linked to your account and ask us to delete it.
If you signed in using Apple’s “Hide My Email”, or you no longer have access to that address, send us your leaderboard name instead (the name together with the number after it) so that we can identify the account.
We delete the account within 30 days of your request and confirm by email once it is done.
What gets deleted
Everything we hold against your account is removed permanently:
- The account itself, and the user ID Apple or Google issued for it
- Your email address, if the sign-in provided one
- Your cloud save
- Your leaderboard name, your scores and your run statistics
What stays
These are either not part of your account or hold no link to it:
- Your progress on the device. It is stored on your phone or tablet only, it keeps working offline, and it is not part of your account. Deleting the app removes it.
- Analytics events, if you allowed analytics. They carry no link to your account and cannot be traced back to you, so there is nothing in them to delete. You can switch analytics off at any time under Options → Privacy.
- Encrypted backups of our database may still contain the record for a short while. They are rotated out within 30 days and are never used to bring a deleted account back.
What “Disconnect” does
The “Disconnect” button next to it only signs this device out. Your account, your cloud save and your leaderboard entry all stay. Use “Delete account” if you want them gone.
